Every year, UAE has a celebration marking the middle of this month called Haq Al Laila. And that’s what we did at Kidville! Traditionally, on the eve of Shaaban – children dress up in traditional Emirati dresses carrying a decorated bag and goes out into the neighborhood knocking on doors and singing ‘Haqi El Layla’ – which means ‘give me my right tonight’.

In return, all the children say a prayer to the people in the house asking that God grant them a visit to Makkah. This cultivates a healthy social environment, helps neighbours interact and fosters social bonding. It is also an opportunity for kids to get to know one another.

So we at Kidville Mirdif decided to host a special Haq Al Laila event filled with cultural and traditional activities.
Children were given supplies to decorate their own candy bags and then later had some fun in our state-of-the-art indoor gym.

After decorating their bags, all the children went from door to door in our facility, where our party leaders were waiting with loads of sweet treats for the little ones.

After collecting all the sweets we shifted to the snack table where all the kids and adults feasted on the refreshments.

In the spirit of giving, some of the lovely parents bought in custom boxes filled with arabic sweets and snacks for all the children.

We always have a blast celebrating local festivals, let us know how you will be celebrating your Haq Al Laila in the comments!
